Terminal Services in Windows 2003 Server

Unlike Windows NT Server 4.0 where for Microsoft Terminal Services made separately, from Windows 2000 Server Terminal Services is integrated so you do not need to buy anymore.



By using Terminal Services then the workstation capabilities Its hardware is limited to show desktop Windows Server 2003 and use the facilities. The concept of this system is working desktop of Windows Server 2003 will be sent to the client PC, and use the mouse and keyboard workstations will be directly sent to the server. So it functions like a dump terminal and workstation users work directly on the server.

Terminal Services consists of three main components:
1. Terminal Services Server (Terminal Server).
2. Terminal Services and Remote Desktop Protocol Client.
3. Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) which is the main protocol.

Therefore the Terminal Services Client which is often called the Thin Client can connect to Terminal Services Server or also known as Terminal Server. There are two options that can be enabled Terminal Services is the administrator or application.

With the installation of Terminal Services Remote Administration mode then you as the administrator can manage the server via the server workstation. Whereas if it is used as an application server then you should
installing the Terminal Services server apllication mode known as Terminal Server
