PC maker Lenovo Uphill So Number One

BEIJING - Lenovo recently managed to beat Hewlett-Packard as the world's number one PC maker in terms of shipments of the product. This was confirmed by the release of statistics recently released research institute Gartner.

Reporting from AllThingsD, Friday (12/10/2012), in statistics recently announced that Gartner, HP previously captured the first position of Dell, has now stepped down to second place. While Lenovo's rise to the first rank.

Lenovo managed to climb to number one by a margin of 0.2 per cent market share from HP. Lenovo's third quarter 2012 shipments totaling 13,767,976 units and a market share of 15.7 percent.

While HP in the third quarter 2012 unit shipped 13,550,761 PCs. HP's market share per quarter at a record 15.5 percent. The next position is occupied successively by Dell, Acer and Asus.

Total existing PC shipments, according to Gartner, declined 8.3 percent to 87.5 million units. They suggest that the decline is due to the Windows 8 operating system which makes consumers delay purchasing decisions. (yhw)
