Director of Strategic Partnerships eBuddy Singapore, Jonie said Oostven challenge the dominance of OTT messaging applications is difficult. However, they can do that optimistic.
He said one of the difficulties experienced eBuddy is in the user base in the region. For example, when someone in Indonesia download eBuddy discovered there was little fella to talk through the application, then they are likely to switch to another application.
"The competition is tough because a lot of people using WhatsApp. Example, when downloading eBuddy they found 20 guys, but in WhatsApp they have 50 guys," said Jonie in Jakarta, Monday (26/11/2012).
"But we believe it has a better quality, because the application is more stable," he added.
eBuddy derived from the Dutch have two applications are eBuddy eBuddy Chat and XMS.
Chat serves as an aggregator for users who want a conversation among various instant messenger such as Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, Windows Live Messenger and Facebook Chat. While XMS functions like WhatsApp that uses mobile phone number as a means of connecting.
Jonie said both applications will then be merged and presented on Android, Windows Phone and a variety of other platforms.
"The next step is we will bring together both the application (eBuddy Chat and XMS). Example you use Facebook Chat, whereas you use the XMS friend, they will be visible in a single view," he explained.
"This application will be available in around 2013, between the first and second quarters. Basically, we cover all platforms and desktop. Thing that makes us different from WhatsApp," he added.
Integrated applications that currently can only be sampled by iPhone users only, while other devices still will follow. Currently in Indonesia, eBuddy users has reached more than two million people.
