CALIFORNIA - One of Apple's patents to protect the touch screen technology in the broadest sense, is being threatened with failure. U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has filed a patent that was reviewed.
Quoted from Cnet, Saturday (12/08/2012), the USPTO decided this week, the 20 claims included in the patent is not entirely valid. It is known from a filing obtained by Foss Patents blog.
But the decision is not final and there will be a reconsideration. This is the second time Apple patent is invalid and must be decided revisited.
Previously, a similar thing had happened to the patent holder on the rubber rebound effect. Apple patent application is filed at the end of October and is also the subject of reconsideration.
Just to note, the patent is Steve Jobs listed as the Chief Inventor with 24 other people. Apple filed a patent in April 2008 and obtained 9 months after that decision. (yhw)
