On occasion, personnel Axl Rose, Dizzy Reed, Tommy Stinson, Chris Pitman, Richard Fortus, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, Frank Ferrer, and DJ Ashba dedicate her performance to bleed Indian music maestro, Ravi Shankar.
Ravi Shankar is a sitar player was legendary, he is also the father of renowned singer Norah Jones who had the original name Geethali Norah Jones Shankar. Ravi died at the age of 92 years in San Diego, United States on Tuesday, December 11th, at approximately 16:30 local time.
In front of thousands of spectators, Axl Rose said that the concert was dedicated to Ravi Shankar.
"We dedicate this show to Pandit Ravi Shankar," Axl said, as reported by Digitalspy, Saturday (15/12/2012).
Guns N'Roses concert was the first rock musical shows in India in recent years. Last year, Metallica was scheduled but canceled a gig there.
In his lifetime, Ravi successfully globalize traditional music of India. Initially, in 1966 one of the guitarist of The Beatles, George Harrison met with Ravi, he was interested in learning to be a disciple of Ravi's sitar. George has used the sitar on the Beatles song, "Norwegian Wood". After so students Ravi, George was again a song with a sitar musical play entitled "Within You Without You."
