Iran Reduce Aid to Hamas

BEIRUT - Hamas recognizes that aid is often acquired from Iran reduced in number. This is due to the reluctance of Hamas to support the regime of Bashar al-Assad in the Syrian conflict.

Previously, some media reported that Iran suspend financial aid to Hamas, with the amount reaching USD300 million or approximately Rp2, 8 trillion (Rp9.624 per USD).

"The difference in the attitude of the Syrian conflict to make Iran halt some aid to the Hamas government in Gaza leader Ismail Haniyeh, although so far we are still on good terms with Iran," said one senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan, told the Daily Star, Friday (7 / 12/2012).

But Hamdan underlined that despite the difference in attitude does not make the struggle of Iranian support for Hamas in Gaza reduced.

"Outsiders have separate ties with Hamas and Iran stance taken by both parties related to Syria, Iran continues to support our struggles and our policy toward Iran was also not changed," he explained.

So far, Hamas declared that they are taking a neutral stance on the conflict in Syria. Hamas supports the struggle of the Syrian people. But on the other hand, they also stated that it has particularly hostility toward Assad.

Many parties also said that Hamas and Hezbollah relations also deteriorated due to Hamas's decision to neuter it. Iran and Hezbollah is known to be strong supporters of the regime of Bashar al-Assad.

"As long as the media is trying to show that there is a crisis between Hezbollah ties with Hamas. This is not true, our relationship with Hezbollah is also still fine, "said Hamdan. (Faj)
