Pakistan Got Much Law to Protect Women

JAKARTA - Pakistani Ambassador to Indonesia Sanaullah said that so far Pakistan has many legal mechanisms to protect women in the country. Protection rules were also compiled a pretty comprehensive.

"Pakistan has a lot of legislation for 22.5 per cent of our MPs are women. We also had to have a female speaker," Sanaullah told reporters when met after attending the closing Conference of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), at the Ritz Carlton, Jakarta, Thursday (06/12/2012).

"There is legislation against violence against women, and we have also just passed a legislation against killing and the marriage contract," he added.

Sanaullah also add, the country is very guaranteeing the rights of women in issues of inheritance and property ownership. The issue of women's property ownership changes also set out in the Constitution of Pakistan, to ensure security.

"These programs are intended to enhance the empowerment of women," he concluded. (Faj)
