BEIRUT - Twin explosions appeared in the university in the city of Aleppo, Syria, just as the students are facing midterms. The blast destroyed the walls of college dorm and killed 83 people.
According to the anti-government Syrian activists, the activists were accused of launching rockets into the campus. However, the cause of the explosion was still unknown to this day. Similarly, as reported by the Associated Press on Wednesday (16/01/2013).
As is known, the Syrian government banned foreign media to enter the country, it rose further complicate the process of independent inquiry into the events of the blast. The information given opposition is also very subjective.
Aleppo University were in the area controlled by the forces of President Bashar al-Assad. After the opposition accused of firing the rockets, they also claim that the explosion was caused by air strikes launched by Assad's forces.
The explosion occurred just as the students were undergoing midterms. The victim is a student and the officers on campus.
The death toll was announced by Syrian human rights activist based in the UK. They claimed, was informed about the explosion of medical personnel and students through campus. Some 150 people reportedly were injured in the deadly incident.
Aleppo City became the largest city of Syria and is the largest commercial center in the heart of the Arab nation. But this time, most areas in the city of Aleppo is controlled by the opposition. Fighting between troops and opposition Assad in Aleppo also look more fierce by the day.
