SANAA - Ambassador of the United States (U.S. ambassador) to Yemen Gerald Feierstein said, Iran has worked with separatist factions in southern Yemen. Iran also expressed support divisions Yemen.
According Feierstein, the separatist group that wanted to establish an independent state called South Yemen and raised Ali Salem al-Beidh as its leader. Beidh is an independent television station owner who had sparked civil war in 1994. Movement led Beidh named, Al-Harak.
"There is evidence to suggest that Iran supporting some extremist groups in the south," Feierstein said, as quoted by Reuters on Monday (01/14/2013).
"Ali Salem al-Beidh living in Beirut (Lebanon) and received funding from the Government of Iran., We believe, he was responsible for the failure of planned Gulf Cooperation Council, to support the division of Yemen," he added.
So far, Yemen is still affected by the war against Al Qaeda. But there are armed groups from Shia (Houti). The group settled in the north and south Yemen.
Yemen accuses Iran of supporting co Houti groups operating in the north. However, it was denied the Persian State.
Separatist issues in Arab countries was not spared from the issue of energy. Existing oil reserves in southern Yemen assessed decline.
At the same time, residents in the south began to frequently complain because they are discriminated against by the government in the north. They accuse the Yemeni government to exploit the natural resources in the south. (AUL)
