Reported Nbcnews, Wednesday (05/01/2013), this artifact is a mysterious ball that found during archaeological excavations with the help of robots. Robots are able to move in this rocky area equipped with a camera and explore the environment that can not reach a human.
Robot with a length of 3 feet is helping archaeologists and controlled remotely. The action robots that assist the team in archaeological exploration in one of the most important buildings in the pre-Hispanic city of Teotihuacan.
"They look like a yellow ball, but we do not know its meaning.'s Discovery that has never happened before," said archaeologist Jorge Zavala of the National Anthropology and History Institute of Mexico.
Mesoamerican Teotihuacan ruins a World Heritage Site, which became one of the largest urban centers. Allegedly this site was founded around 100 BC and was once inhabited by the ancient inhabitants, amounting to 100 thousand people at peak times.
This robot helps archaeologists named Tlaloc II-TC and an infrared camera equipped with a laser scanner. The laser is used to generate 3D visualization in space that lies beneath the temple.
"The robot can go in an unexplored part of the tunnel. Robot found three space within between 100 and 110 meters from the entrance," said archaeologist Sergio Gomez Chavez. (FMH)
