The past in the 90s every morning on Sunday on one of the private television shows, there was a Japanese anime with Doraemon manga characters created by Fujiko F. Fujio and with the magic bag Doraemon was able to remove the objects needed, as in the lyrics "I want this I want it once I want it to be a lot, everything can be granted with a magic bag ". A piece of the lyrics provides an overview of technology that is now able to help humans in tracing the information needed, like the magical bag of Doraemon.
Born 20 years ago precisely on 4 September 1998 on the American continent Larry Page and Sergey Brin have created a new world door in which there is unlimited access to information called Google. Google's search engine technology is the result of internet technology marriage and the world wide web. Google is becoming increasingly brilliant after collaborating with Android smartphone software development companies so that Google is increasingly popular and often used.
Teachers and Generations
Teachers in the world of education today consist of two generations, generation X (Gen X) and generation Y (Gen Y). Their Generation X was born from 1960 to 1980 while their Y generation was born from 1981 to 1994. Generation X is the first generation to know computer technology while Generation Y is a transitional generation where technology is developing.
Google makes it easy for users to search for information including as an information support tool in the world of education. After Google was allowed as a supporter of student learning activities, it made it easier for students to solve school assignments given by their teachers. How not easy, students just open the Google application on a smartphone or laptop and in seconds the information we need is available, then completed using a magic finger with the formula ctrl + c (copy) and ending with ctrl + v (paste) with a little edits already completed what is the duty of students, namely schoolwork.
Obviously, the teacher and the student are human beings who are not curious curiousity. because it was strange if there were some rumors that students were now too spoiled by Google. Instead of blaming Google, the teacher should begin to be creative with his teaching methods and not be indifferent, especially antipathy. Google is not the only current search engine technology, Bing, Baidu, Yahoo, Yandex, Naver, Ask, Dogpile, DuckDuckGo and AoLa but, Google is still the favorite search engine in the world of education.
Google Penetration
Keep in mind, Google stands on technology to facilitate human life. Technology is still technology which is the result of human creativity, initiative and work. Technology is created and shapes culture and in culture it certainly has technological roots as reinforcement. The current culture of education between teachers and students should have collaborated with each other. Going together does not mean the same but filling in information and of course the experience of a teacher can add wise knowledge to students in using technology.
Google penetration not only helps teachers and students but does not realize Google influences educational foundations such as writing. Writing is a fundamental action in the world of education. Almost arguably this time there was a decline in interest in using beautiful fingers on a piece of paper. not only students, almost a number of smart phone users become autistic devices. like autism which doesn't pay attention to the surrounding environment and only focuses on one point. In the past every subject in school had textbooks and notebooks that were useful for recording teacher explanations that were not contained in the textbook. Today it's still written, it's ancient. Such things are often tormented by students. They make it easy to learn by not writing on the grounds that everything is on Google and typing on a computer with a magic finger copy paste and Google's help and other technologies become commonplace ...
The problematic paradox is eroded slowly after the emergence of the Google for Education feature. Once again, the expertise of this software company is to pay attention to the polemics that occur and make it an opportunity. The Google for Education feature is the development of technology intended for teachers and students to collaborate with each other anytime anywhere by creating a learning atmosphere that seeks students to think critically and clearly Google wants to provide integrated teaching system solutions. in addition to this in addition to its function, Google includes the technology of Increased Reality (Augmented Reality) in which this technology has the ability to combine two-dimensional and three-dimensional technology into the environment and real time.
With this genius technology, it is indeed constrained for developing countries, information technology infrastructure is needed in the scope of the school. for developing countries the need for this requires considerable costs but with the presence of cloud computing (cloud computing) can at least reduce the burden of these large costs. If we pay attention to Google's breakthrough so far, at least it has given a positive effect in increasing the level of critical thinking of students. What is certain is that the world of Indonesian education is beginning to show a stretch of education culture that is renewable and integrates with technology.
