Modern dial-up web content transfer with a maximum speed of 56.6 kilobits per second. In the early days of the Internet service, is usually sufficient, as the website is designed with slim mentality, with very little image and heavy emphasis on text, and text-based linking. As time has progressed, however, most websites assume that the user is on a high speed connection, and therefore loaded their website with visual flair and high image file size. What ever else is acceptable for most web users, who prefer to choose the faster service. Mid-Range of services available for the home, including cable Internet or Digital Subscriber Line (DSL).
While DSL is available as slow as 128 kilobits per second (just a little more than twice the speed of dial-up) most of the providers have since upgraded their capacity and provide services as soon as 3000 kilobits per second. For most people, this is enough, but there is now faster service available for those who either desire them, or ask them to run their business. For those not interested in paying for internet access, there is a very small number of ISPs available Free. Service providers provide free internet service, typically funded through advertising revenue (such as television broadcasts in the station).
Unfortunately, many ISPs are gradually falling by the wayside.
