"iPhone Not Too Popular in Indonesia"

JAKARTA - Although the iPhone has grabbed success in terms of sales and brand world famous, but in Indonesia the Apple smartphone was actually not too popular. The presence of the iPhone in the country had to face tough competition by the rival Android.

This was disclosed by the Director & Chief Commercial Officer of Indosat, Erik Meijer on the sidelines of the launch of "Business Women" in Thamrin City, Jakarta, Thursday (06/12/2012). "I see from the happenings, the iPhone 5 is indeed in the world. But here, the iPhone has not been very popular, "said Erik.

Instead, says Erik, Android popularity in Indonesia, no doubt. In Indosat, Android now has a larger share than the iPhone in the "class" smartphone.

"Obviously, Android is still larger than the iPhone," he continued.

Debut iPhone 5 in Indonesia

Although the iPhone has not over popular in Indonesia, but Erik ensure that Apple's latest phone, the iPhone 5, will be available in Indonesia on 14 September.

"But for the first, the stock is still limited. Apple shipped the iPhone usually every weekend and for the pre-order, this week has been opened, "said Erik without detailing the initial stock of iPhone 5 which will be bundling with Indosat.

"With restricted stock, it is usually sold out within half an hour," he said.

As for the price of iPhone 5 in Indonesia, said Erik, price will not be much different from the iPhone 4S sold in Indonesia. "The price is almost the same as the first (iPhone 4S), Rp7 approximately Rp12 million," said Erik.
