Atletico could only draw 0-0 at Getafe's headquarters on the second leg eightfinal, early this morning. However, this result was enough for Atletico to qualify for the quarterfinals, following a 3-0 victory in the first leg at the Vicente Calderon.
"We defended well and successfully maintain excellence, we've done what we had to do," said Simeone told Marca as reported by Soccerway, Friday (01/11/2013).
"In terms of attitude and performance, nothing else to say. Maybe we are less capable of a maximum in the final settlement, despite having a number of situations that should be better in the finish, "said Argentina coach's passport.
Since his return to Atletico Madrid, Simeone has not lost a match in the knockout phase though, both du European stage and Copa del Rey. In the quarterfinals later, Atletico will face the winner between Las Palmas or other La Liga club, Real Betis.
"It will be good for us right now and we hope to continue to work hard for the next knockout match," he added.
"I think it would be difficult if it's Las Palmas or Betis, they were formidable rivals, and with them we have to have full focus," said 42-year coach. (acf)
