WASHINGTON - U.S. nuclear submarine reportedly crashed into a fishing boat in the Persian Gulf sea. However, such events do not harm the two ships collided.
U.S. submarines reportedly only suffered damage in the periscop's only, while nuclear reactors located in the ship remained normal. Fishing boats were hit by a submarine was also declared fine and can resume his journey without any problems.
"Fishing vessel continued its journey without any visible problems, if may not feel the ship has been hit by our submarines," said a spokeswoman for the fifth fleet of the U.S. Navy, as quoted by Reuters on Friday (01/11/2013).
The incident is not the first time a warship of the U.S. civilian ship crashed into the Persian Gulf. Last August, a ship owned by the U.S. destroyer rammed the tanker was carrying petroleum.
The fifth fleet is owned by the U.S. Navy militery which oversees security in the Persian Gulf, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz is a vital area for the majority passed the world's oil supply.
Fifth fleet has bases in Bahrain opposite Iran in the Persian Gulf region. Iran has often threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz if the conflict that the U.S. has with Iran over its nuclear program heats up.
