Iran Rejects Presidential Candidates are Related to U.S.

TEHRAN - In addition to prohibiting women to run for the President of Iran, Iran's Guardian Council also provides other criteria before the Iranian presidential election in June. Guardian Council rejected candidates with ties to the United States (U.S.).

Iran's Guardian Council Secretary Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati said, some candidates thought that international sanctions against Iran will be revoked if the State Paramullah reopen relations with the U.S..

"Obviously we have to laugh at this comment. If there is someone who has a view like that, is it possible we could approve his nomination," Jannati said, as quoted by NDTV, Saturday (18/05/2013).

United States has no diplomatic relations with Iran since 1979. Since then, there has never been a high-ranking Iranian relations with the U.S. suggest improvements.

But former Iranian president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani suggested a better relationship can be built between the U.S. and Iran. Although Rafsanjani did not suggest the improvement of relations between the two countries.

Earlier, Iran's Guardian Council members rejected the political participation of women in Iran. This threw the plan approximately 30 women who register as candidate for President of Iran. (Faj)
