MANILA - Philippine Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin claims, China is a party in violation of the Declaration of Conduct (DoC) South China Sea. Gazmin also touched on the situation Ayungin Shoal is located not far from the South China Sea.
After meeting with Chinese Ambassador Ma Keqing, Gazmin mengatkan that China will continue to monitor the outstanding issues. China is also concerned with the existence of the Philippine ship was moving to Shoal Ayungin for a mission logistics. Gazmin also accused China of breaking DoC South China Sea.
"We always follow the rules in the DoC. We never break them," Gazmin said, as quoted by GMA, Friday (31/06/2013).
The Philippine defense minister reminded his country's commitment to de-escalation of the South China Sea conflict. During his visit to Singapore, Gazmin will discuss the issue bilaterally.
As is known DoC for the South China Sea signed by China and ASEAN in November 2002. However, the Code of Conduct is still not agreed upon, China had demanded a bilateral approach to resolve outstanding issues.
South China Sea is claimed by some ASEAN countries such as Brunei, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines. At the same time, Taiwan had come to claim.
Although Philippine President Benigno Aquino wants a peaceful path to solve the problem of the dispute, the Philippines lately it looks very aggressive. They intend to submit the issue to international arbitration without the consent of China. (AUL)
