Again, Research Reveals Man of the Nation Apes?

LONDON - Researchers not seem to get enough of making observations and studies to look for similarities between humans and primates (nation mammals that includes monkeys or monkey). More recently, research in the UK found that 1 in 13 people have a foot like a chimpanzee.

Reported Newscientist, Friday (31/05/2013), the research stems from disagreement Jeremy DeSilva and Simone Gill at Boston University in the textbooks (textbooks) that the human foot is more efficient to run. While apes, has legs that are flexible and suitable for climbing trees and moving in the trees.

Both of these researchers asked 400 adults to take a walk around the Boston Museum of Science. Movement of these volunteers then walked on carefully and filmed.

Researchers found that 8 percent of people have some flexibility, as seen in the tree-dwelling apes. The study reported in the American Journal of Physical Anthropology.

Researchers looked at the anatomy of the human foot, which he has in common and flexible like a chimpanzee. "I was surprised by this," said DeSilva.

Robin Huw Crompton at the University of Liverpool, UK, said flexible legs have been around since the beginning of the human species. Flexible foot is thought as a relic of the species that lived in the trees.

Furthermore, he said, other features of the human foot that had been lost, among others, on your toes for gripping power. While chimpanzees, for example, have the toes to grip opposing.

Crompton believes in human legs can produce most flexibility in certain circumstances as well as the stability is very important. Desilva has another theory, he argues, flexible legs resulting in the ability to walk less efficiently.

According to him, flexible legs will be a loss after our ancestors left the trees as habitat. "My guess is that we get more variety than before, probably because the shoes have an impact on the anatomy of the foot," he concluded. (FMH)
