Ever baseball we feel if the man in the modern era is even more stupid? Moreover, if we look at past civilizations so advanced, but when that technology has not been developed rapidly. Apparently, we thought it was true.
The results of a recent study Professor Gerald Crabtree of Stanford University points out, human beings today are more stupid and lacking in emotional stability than their predecessors centuries ago.
Published in the scientific journal Trends in Genetics, Crabtree wrote that if the Greeks who lived during 1000 BC present in our midst today, he would be the most intelligent of all of us intellectually.
"I also suspect that he would be the man most emotionally stable among friends and our colleagues," said Crabtree, as reported by the Huffington Post, Wednesday (14/11/2012).
How so? Crabtree speculated that comfortably paced world, the evolutionary process is not running intensive, and leads to the growth of people who are more stupid.
Meanwhile, the New York Daily News, Wednesday (11/14/2012) writes, Crabtree, professor of pathology and describe biological developments, the peak of human intelligence comes when people do not communicate verbally and in distress to find a way to avoid eaten by animals outside.
According to Crabtree, survival mode driving force intelligence person. However, the development of agriculture and life might weaken natural selection on human intelligence and make more stupid.
Fortunately, a decline in brain power is replaced by technological advances that answered all our problems, before we really become stupid.
Even worse, Crabtree predicts that in the coming year 3000, human DNA would have a harmful mutation in this easy-paced era.
Crabtree discovery does not necessarily acceptable to everyone. An opinion piece in the New York Times states that the average man of today has an IQ 30 points higher than their predecessors. Instead of stating that we are smarter than the previous generation, the authors state that the man of today "more modern" in mind.
Professor Steve Jones, a geneticist at University College London, is skeptical of DNA mutations tori Crabtree. "I could argue that the mutation had reduced aggression, depression, and even the size of our genitals, but there will be no scientific journal would publish it. Why they (Trends in Genetics, Ed) publish this (theory Crabtree-ed)?" said Jones told The Independent.
