Corporate Partner Apple Hire Children Under Age

CALIFORNIA - Apple audit firms in China found that the company's major suppliers of component products, the employment of children under age. In one case, Apple said the company terminated its relationship with the component manufacturer Guangdong Real Faith Pingzhou Electronics.

Quoted from the Telegraph, Sunday (27/01/2013), termination is due, Apple found 74 cases of underage workers, the company Guangdong Real Faith Pingzhou Electronics. Apple also find some manpower supply companies who forged documents, to allow young minors working illegally on its parts suppliers.

U.S. companies are heavily reliant on Asia-based partners such as Taiwan's Foxconn Technology Group, which assembles most of the iPhone and iPad. Apple claims it has conducted 393 audits in 2012, an increase of 72 percent from 2011, which the company is reviewing more than 1.5 million workers making its gadgets.

"We went a long way in the supply chain to find it, and when it was found, we ensure that under-age workers will be treated as well as possible, while suppliers will be asked for an answer," said Jeff Williams, Apple's Senior Vice President of Operations.

For the year 2013, Apple's main focus is to make the student internship program, and ensure that suppliers will not abuse the apprenticeship system. Especially in China, where many colleges require students to complete an internship as part of their curriculum. (amr)
