In practice, strengthening character education in the 3T region encountered several obstacles. The concept of strengthening character education is still not fully understood by teachers and teachers.
"They (teachers and instructors) do not understand the concept of strengthening character education. So confused. The application is a lot wrong. Some think, activities to strengthen character education are about religion. So religious activities are multiplied. Even though it is not like that," Doni explained.
According to Doni, religion is one of the values. There are other values learned, namely the value of nationalism, independence, mutual cooperation, and integrity. There is also the thought of the habit of strengthening character education as if implemented in a flag ceremony and singing national anthem.
The formation of character education must be integrated. Need collaboration with the community. Thanks to collaboration with the community, schools in some remote areas, such as Buton and Tanjung Pinang, can progress.
"Especially if the headmaster is creative. They work together with the school committee and the community. Schools are progressing even though the budget is not enough. There is no BOS fund for extracurricular activities. But cooperation with the community is developing," said Doni.
